"THE LETTER"

- by Sirpa Bister (Dreamer)

"The Encounter!"

3d. Part

Mikko had been waiting for Dagmar out in the dark already for some time, finally he saw the lights going out at the mansion. He knew it would not be a long time anymore before he could enjoy the company of the one and only woman he loved so deeply. First he had hesitated when Jelena came by his cabin, thinking of Dagmar and the life she was used too, but then he realize it wouldn't have any meaning, as long they loved each others. He was sitting under a tree with when heard the noises of branches and leaves breaking under steps. Quickly he stand up praying it would be Dagmar.

"Mikko, Mikko!" he heard a voice almost whispering and blowing away with the wind before it reached him. "I am here!" he answered very quiet. They had to take extreme cautions to not be heard. He saw Dagmar coming out running behind the bushes in the darkness and she felt straight into his arms exited with her eyes sparkling

"Mikko, I am here now, lets go!"

.........

They had been walking for two days now, resting only small moments at time to get further away. Time wasn't at their side as they advanced by feet, and both was so well aware of that any moment someone could reach them in their run. Mikko knew how important Dagmar was to her father and family. They would not give up so easily.

They were both exhausted when they saw an old barn almost hided behind the vast trees away from the path, it could serve them for to get a few hours sleep so they could gather their strength and continue their escape. They had many miles still to go before reach the border. Many days and nights running and hiding.

Both was in a deep sleep when they heard a noise that wake them up, scared looking at each others they grabbed their things quickly  and tried to seek somewhere to hide inside the barn. They saw the old broken ladders but still in such condition that they could use them for to climb to the upper loft. There were certainly something where they could hide and not be seen. They could hear the murmur of voices and some laughter closer coming towards the barn. Quickly they climb up first Mikko then Dagmar who was helped the last broken steps up. They were lucky the ladders hold the weight and didn't broke.

Both were breathless and could hear the hearts banging like drums in their chest's, a fear that those people entering would hear it too, raised up to the throat almost shoaking Dagmar. She started an intense cuffing and draw the attention of the men to the loft. "Who's there?" they ask, they couldn't pretend they hadn't heard them and gave up crawling to the edge by their knees. Dagmar was relieved, she didn't knew these men and she could see they were field workers just coming in to the shadow for to have their lunch.

"Hi there," she said smiling. "Hi!" said Mikko also right behind her. The men answered them and was looking with eyes filled of questions and curiosity. "Can somebody help me down?" Dagmar asked as she gathered her dress and started to get down at the ladder. All three men came towards her, reaching out their arms for to help her, but at the same time the step where she stood, broke and she felt into the arms of the nearest man who catch her quickly.

"Thank you!", she said in a trembling voice, she got scared with the fall, but then she started to laugh thinking of how she must look in this so very comic situation.  The man let her down at the ground and while Dagmar was shaking off the hays of her dress and hair, she turn around to see where Mikko was, he was still at the edge now throwing her bag and his backpack to the ground following them with a jump down. Her Mikko didn't need the ladders no, she was thinking with pride looking at his strong body.

"So who are you people?" one of them asked. Mikko and Dagmar gave a secret look at each others knowing they couldn't reveal who she was. They didn't knew how far her family was known and if anyone had heard about them already, so in a mutual silent agree Mikko told them a story that convinced them there had not been done any harm. The men introduce themselves and told that they would be working at the field a few hours more and invited to come along to the farm for to have a good meal and night sleep after their work.

.......

Dagmar woke up and sat up at the bedside, she looked at her wrinkled clothes and saw they were only a memory of those she saw in the mirror when she leaved her home. "Home," she thought, no I can't think about that again, she turn away from the following memories and look at Mikko while sleeping. She felt the love float all around them like a cloud and she resisted for to wake him up with a kiss.

She went out from the room they had been given and she didn't see a soul, "Well!", she thought, "They must have gone to the field to work very early as the workers at her home did, oh no home again, couldn't I just get that out from her mind, ever?" she ask herself, mumbling quiet at the patio of the house. She saw the well and walked to get some fresh water to drink and to wash her face. Suddenly she jumped up as someone touched her shoulder, she turn quickly around and saw Mikko there laughing to her and taking her hand in his. He placed it at his cheek, kissed the fingertops and said;

"Dagmar, I love you, and that will never change, we will be together as long as God let us, for before his eyes we belong together, now and always."

"I know Mikko, I know, my love for you is proven, I leaved my home, my family and everything for to be with you, I will never regret that, our love will last forever darling, forever!"

Unbreakable Love of two souls

so diferente, yet united in one

Power of love

Stronger than anything

There are only two souls

wondering on their journey

towards the freedom

towards a life together

for to last,

Forever
