Christmas-sauna Tradition *S*
We have all
to "get cleaned" for the
Christmas, purified with that
branche we hit ourself with, the
steam for to drive out the
devils in us so we have a pure
clarified mind to receive our
Jesus Christ.
The
Gathering of the family at the
main Christmas Meal
A hot drink
called "Christmas-Glog" what we
serve before the meal and during
the day, it is like the
"Egg-Todd" I believe in US lol,
just made with diferent
indigrients, hot juice of black
or red currant with Cinnamon in
it and for the adults also with
some alcohol in it if they wish.
But the usual here in Finland is
that we don't drink alcohol,
just and only with the meal,
then it is bear, a special
Christmas-bear with or without
alcohol also and wine. I love it
to see people who are
celebrating without any alcohol.
"Christmas
Porridge" The Meal for Father
Christmas that we leave on the
porche if we live in such house
that we could, served with milk
and cookies *S*
The main
meal with the traditional so
good "Christmas Ham"
"Njaaamm"
see all these goodies, can't
hardly wait for Christmas
Deserts
Lolol
A little
later we serve the coffee and
the cakes and also a Birthday
cake for to celebrate the Birth
Of Our Lord Jesus Christ!
With this
lovely picture I will share with
you my "Christmas Story!"
Enjoy!
Finally while the
adults were drinking their
coffee, looking at TV or
just had a good time
together we could hear
the "Knock-Knock" on the
door, then Mother smiled and
look at the kids and said
out loud, "Who's there?" We
could hear; "Is
there anyone at home?" "Yes
we are at home?" then she
turn to the kids and
asked them "Who might that be,
we are here gathered in
peace and calm celebrating
Christmas, Who dares to
interrupt that?" Then the
kids got up from the floor
where they were sitting,
started to jump up and
down, "Father Christmas,
Father Christmas is there!"
they
sang out in a
enthusiastic
choir, "Please, open up the
door" one of the kids
exclaimed
when he heard the knock on
the door again and this time
louder. Every adult started
to laugh in the living-room
and they all look with a
secret look at each others
following the expectations
of the kids when the door
were opened. Now everyone had a
special shine in their eyes
and smiley faces, cheeks were
aroused of excitement and
they all saw "Father
Christmas"
"Merry
Christmas, Merry Christmas,
peace and love to this Blessed
home." he said out loud smiling
and combing his long white beard
with his hand. I see that you
have children's here", he turns
to look at the kids who
were now surrounding him and
waited hardly staying quiet
where they stand. They all look
up at Father Christmas and were
anxious for to hear his next
words;
"So tell me,
Is there any kind children
around?"
Again all the
children answered in a choir,
"Yes, Yes there is I am!" "So
how have you behaved yourself
during this year?", he kneeled
and asked one of the boys who
answer very quickly, "I have
been good and kind, just as you
told me to behave last
Christmas!", and so he go on
and ask all the children and
finally when he had greeted the
last he saw the chair that
mother had placed for him to
sit. But first he went to the door and got
a very big weaved sack from
outside and sat down at the
chair opening up it. All
the children had now gathered at
front of him sitting at
the floor while the elders were
standing behind looking with so
much love and warmth in their
eyes. Mom were
thinking with happiness that
finally they could have a good
Christmas with presents, tree and
all and also the rented Father
Christmas, but that only in
silent thoughts and still
remembering these last years and
Christmas time. Last Christmas
it had been dad and he had only
one gift for each. Thank God he
got that job, they had lived
hard the past 5 years when dad
was unemployed and she had done
some sewing for people for to
get together some money so they
could get their food day by day.
Christmas time
had been very hard, 5 years ago
they with only 2 kids when her
hubby lost his job, it had
thought been easier then as they had
some savings to use. She had tried to
get work and hubby was doing one
job here and there but nothing
regular. Three years ago she
got pregnant again and last year
she had her last child. They had
decided that even if they would
had loved to have more kids they
couldn't afford it and so it
was. No more and it had been
better.
Day by day had gone by
and they had got use to live
on poverty with little, only that
in the last years the Christmas had been very
poor and they didn't celebrate
as they use to do, but with all
love they had in their family
they were able to live with it,
they had to. The kids was dealing very
well with it so now this year as they
could they had decided to reward
them for all that they had to go
through with a "Real" Christmas, but
still not forgetting what
Christmas was all about. Really
she felt a little ashamed as she
had that thought of a "real"
Christmas cause that wasn't
true, it wasn't
about money or gifts or
such like that no, it was
something completely different
and should be celebrated as
everyone could, not with the
amount of presents or how much
money spent of them but,... The
Christmas Spirit, yes, the Love
they all share and the thought
what came with every gift, even
if it was a home-made star or other
made with enthusiasm of a small child, or something that mom
has sewed and dad has painted.
It is the gift
of love what is the real issue, a
gift of a newborn baby that we
celebrate each year. Birth Of
Jeseus Christ!
Mother woke up
from her deep thoughts and
memories that had so suddenly
filled her mind and she sat at
the chair beside Father
Christmas and everyone in the
room was so quiet that they
almost could had heard a needle
fall if there were such. When
Mother spoke then everyone just
had to listen.
"Merry Christmas to you all, I
hope that this Christmas will be
a memorable one that all of you
will come back to in your
memories at this Holy time of
the year. If you all just have a
little more patience and we'll
wait just a few moments more?"
"Yes we can
wait mom!" answered the eldest
child and all others agree.
"Let us sing a Christmassong in
this time to wait and to welcome
Christmas in our home and our
hearts, what about Silent Night,
Holy night?" mom asked.
"A beautiful song and thought
indeed, Hohohoo!" smiled Father
Christmas and started to
sing....
Merry Christmas Foxy 2 you and
family *S*
